For the past six months, America has been utterly divided. Brother has blocked brother on Facebook, relationships have deteriorated, sacred places have been burned, children have started to mimic the hateful rhetoric of their parents who have mimicked their political ideological focus.
Tomorrow we will wake up in an America that is completely different from today and altogether the same as the day before it.
Regardless of who is elected, the world will continue to turn. America will continue to be the land of the free and home of the brave. You will still be you and you will still be in control of your thoughts and your beliefs, in spite of a president who may not support them.
So, let’s gather around and do something that has been sorely lacking in America as of late.
Let us love.
Let’s take the hand of the person next to us and care for them. Genuinely.
Let’s teach our children to admire difference in others and not be repulsed by it.
Let’s heal those old relationships that were damaged by the color of our opinionated bumper sticker.
Let’s heal America.
Let’s heal our hearts.
“We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.”
-Martin Luther King Jr.
